Welcome to Warren County
There is no denying the rural charm of Warren
County. From winding back roads to major
highways, the views are captivating, the spaces
are wide open, and historic significance abounds.
Warren County also is a place of opportunity.
This northwestern New Jersey region is home
to large and small businesses, quality educational
institutions, affordable housing, and a culturally
diverse population.
Mars Snackfood US and chemical manufacturer
Mallickrodt Baker are two of the county’s largest
manufacturers and employers. A good portion
of the recent economic growth, fostered by the
increasing consumer base, has been in the smallto
medium-sized commercial and retail business
sectors. The county also features a wide variety of
specialty shops, food establishments and servicerelated
businesses.
Reasonably priced housing and a first-rate school
system are attractive reasons for families to settle
here. In 2005, Money magazine ranked
Hackettstown in the Top 100 Places to
Live in the U.S. Easy access to highways
and close proximity to airports and
major cities such as Trenton, New York
and Philadelphia appeal to the daily
commuter, while convenient businessrelated
services and information
technology options offer the best of
both worlds to telecommuters and small
or home-based businesses.
Phillipsburg has been welcoming
industry back to the area. Designated
an Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ),
businesses can take advantage of
discounted sales taxes, low interest loans, and other
incentives. Starting in 2006, the UEZ embarked on
a five-year redevelopment that includes the creation
of new jobs, revitalization of the downtown area,
and redevelopment of the Delaware River
waterfront. Phillipsburg has access to Interstate 78,
Route 22, Route 57, railways, and two major
airports – all within an hour drive.
Warren County also has fertile farmlands that
yield high quality fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants
and trees. Every season offers up a great harvest
and a variety of activities to accompany it, such as
picking-your-own fruits, flowers or Christmas trees;
spring and fall festivals; fairs and farm markets;
and farm tours.
Community organizations in Warren County
benefit from a large volunteer population
that is both supported and supplemented by
local businesses.
